Limousines are often imagined as the territory of the rich and famous, and if not the exclusive terrain of the celebrities, then only reserved for those with pockets full of money. The losses are not only putting Obama further away from Presidential leadership in numbers, but also in his image. Mrs Clinton is connecting the dots for her voters, having said that Obama is too big a risk in the presidential election when she said ‘Why can’t he close the deal? Why can’t he win a big state?’

But Obama is not giving up and simply admits that he just has to work harder to win the blue collar votes. He also points out that he has had some very important victories and in a recent interview commented that ‘It’s not like I’ve [only] been winning in states where all they have are black voters or Chablis-drinking limousine liberals’ and having won Virginia and Colorado, Obama has shown that he can be successful in Republican-leaning states.

However it can be hard to change the image which voters have and if the blue-collar voters see Obama in the ‘limousine liberal’ light he has a lot of work to do to show that he understands their needs.
